Once upon a time, God delivered the Army of Isreal from a battle. However, they got carried away in a won battle and, in the process of picking the spoiled, took for themselves idols that failed their enemy and brought those idols to the altar for worship.

This is likened to someone God saved but still "celebrating grace" in a worldly way.

Also, if one foot is not solid in Christ, there is a possibility of getting lost in the process of certain spiritual activities.
