GOD’S THOUGHTS OF PEACE TOWARDS YOU (JEREMIAH 29:11)

Often when we are told to give thanks to God in all things, we wonder if it includes when serious and unpleasant things come our way. The truth is that God means every word He says and this we all must come to accept. We are to give thanks because He is in absolute control of all situations. Remember, all things work together for good to them that love the Lord and God alone knows how to bring out good from evil (Romans 8:28; Mark. 10:27; consider Job 42:12-17).

The above brief introduction brings us to today’s discourse where every widow who looks forward to gracefully pass through this period must realize that whatever the circumstance, God’s thoughts for her remain true – the Thoughts Of Peace.

God knows every of our capabilities at different stages of our lives and works with us accordingly (Psalms. 103:13-14) and where it appears much is expected of us, He supplies all that it takes to fulfil it. He knew you as a child, a youth, a spinster, a married woman and now a widow. He knows all about you and His thoughts towards you at every stage of life is that of peace. This disposition is not for a moment or some particular time of your life but having chosen to be your husband, He is continually present with you to ensure the peace you desire (Isaiah 54:4-7; Hebrews 13:5b; Isaiah 43:1-7). Like every ideal husband and wife, there has got to be a oneness of purpose, agreement and unity between God and you. And now, knowing Him to be true to His word, you are to believe and trust Him. He says His thoughts towards you is that of peace and not of evil and even to give you that thing you have so longed for (Jeremiah 29:11). God takes on a dual role in your life – that of God and husband and head, so all your thoughts and plans are to be lost in His (Genesis 3:16). This means that you do not take any serious decisions without Him such as the running of the home, children’s career, business or employment issues, remarriage plans, etc. You should never behave as though he is not there or interested. The truth is that He cares, so you’ve got to cast your cares and programmes on Him and have them align with His thoughts for you. You will find Him working out those plans far better than you can imagine and all for your joy and peace (1Peter 1:7; Ephesians 3:20). As you come to relate with Him on this note, believing He never wishes you any evil, it becomes easy to find out from Him when anything is not working the way you desire and He will direct you on what you need to do (consider Joshua 7:2-6, 10-12). All you need is to trust Him and believe His promises to you. It is yet out of His love for you and in line with His good thoughts towards you that He sometimes do not allow some things to come to you though you may have loved to have them. Remember, He sees the end from the beginning and knows the secret motives of men and spirits surrounding anything coming your way. You cannot afford to get offended or allow discouragements from any quarters, neither do you allow yourself to drift into self-pity and depression thereby disappointing your Master and husband who has vowed to be there for you and to fight and defend you (Exodus 14:14; Hebrews 13:5). The period of widowhood is intended to be graceful for any Christian widow, she should just ensure that her communication line with the Lord remains intact.

Are you a widow reading this article and you desire God’s thought of peace to manifest in your life but you have not come into a father-daughter relationship with Him, then you must take that first step of surrendering your life to Him. Repent and yield your sinful life to Him and let Jesus cleanse you with His pure blood and make of you a clean and pure woman. This is the purpose of His death on the cross for you. You will experience a changed life and receive His Spirit into your life giving you access to the Father, thereafter you can get into a father-daughter and husband-wife relationship with Him. From that moment, all that concerns you becomes His and His peace will fill your life. So, let your thoughts get lost into His and His peace will flow into every area of your life.
DOES JESUS CARE?

Does Jesus care when my heart is pained
Too deeply for mirth or song,
As the burdens press, and the cares distress,
And the way grows weary and long?

Oh, yes, He cares, I know He cares,
His heart is touched with my grief;
When the days are weary, the long nights dreary,
I know my Savior cares.

Does Jesus care when my way is dark
With a nameless dread and fear?
As the daylight fades into deep night shades,
Does He care enough to be near?

Does Jesus care when I’ve tried and failed
To resist some temptation strong;
When for my deep grief there is no relief,
Though my tears flow all the night long?

Does Jesus care when I’ve said “goodbye”
To the dearest on earth to me,
And my sad heart aches till it nearly breaks—
Is it aught to Him? Does He see?
