TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS PERIOD!

Serve The Lord Without Distractions

As one considers such scriptures verses like Ecclesiastes 3:1-8; 9:10; John 9:4, it becomes clear that everything we do or go through has a life span, so to say. This being the case then, it is expected that the voice take advantage of every opportunity available to her and achieve the best. The period from the end of teenage years and before a lady is married can be seen as the period of spinsterhood. Girls look forward to this time because it is filled with experiences, adventures and exploits and some level of independence. This period ends once the lady is joined in marriage with a man and one truth is that it can never be recalled ‘re-lived’ again. It becomes necessary that every spinster should be careful how she spends this period because she shall give account of it all (Ecclesiastes 11:9, 10; 12:14; Romans 14:12).The period of spinsterhood is a great time of acquiring good education if you have not already done so or getting skills that will help you climb the ladder of your profession or vocation which is God’s will for you (cons. Deuteronomy 28:11-13). It is also a time of getting virtues that will stand you out as a virtuous woman, a wise home builder and the bride of the Lord Jesus waiting for His return (Proverbs 14:1; 31:10, 29-31; Matthew 25:1-4, 6-9; Hebrews 12:14). Unfortunately, most ladies who have not encountered the Lord are only interested in fame, wealth, leisure and frivolities. They and some Christian ladies who, though born again but because they have neither been taught nor found out what the will of God is for their lives and unwilling to commit their lives to Christ to that extent of Him directing their affairs, spend most part of their spinsterhood going in and coming out of one relationship or the other with its attendant sorrows and heartaches (cons. Hosea 8:7). Many who have treaded this path are either into marriages filled with unpalatable experiences and depression as a result of disappointments or for the same reasons decided to remain single. This is not God’s will or way for His children during their spinsterhood. The period of spinsterhood is supposed to be glorious and sweet so much that when it is ending, one wishes for its extension. What is God’s perspective of a godly spinsterhood one may be asking? It should be a period of holiness in body and spirit and serving the Lord without distraction (1Corinthian 7:32-35).

Young woman, see the time of your spinsterhood as a golden opportunity to get into the heart of God and endear yourself to Him through your love and service for Him and then watch how He releases His unction and manifests His glory in response to your actions. At this time, discover the talent and potentials that God has bestowed upon you as His child and go all out to put them at work (1Timothy 4:14; 2Timothy 1:6). God has His expectations of your input into the expansion of His kingdom through winning souls and great exploits (cons. John 15:5, 8; Daniel 12:3; Proverbs 11:30). There are many young women out there and diverse unpleasant circumstances in the lives of multitudes waiting for your intervention as a daughter of God (Romans 8:19; consider Acts 3:1-8). As the manner of our God and Father is, He leaves Himself witnesses in every generation and an unmarried woman has every opportunity to be and to prepare herself for that seeing it is a business that must be done without distraction. Esther, Mary and the daughters of Philip must have utilized their spinsterhood unreservedly for the Lord to leave such remarkable testimonies and impact in their generation and challenges for generations following (Luke 1:26-31; Esther 2:15-17; 4:13, 14; Acts 21:8,9).

You could be the Esther, Mary, Prophetess of your time if you remove distractions. Distractions could come in form of worries and anticipated anxieties, from ungodly relationships and dating, unnecessary disturbances, immoral thoughts and activities, ungodly ambitions and pursuits, and all that contend with your holiness in body and spirit. These hinder a young Christian woman from active spinsterhood that pleases and glorifies God (1Corinthians 7:32, 34; Luke. 10:38-42; consider Romans 8:5-8) yet God’s injunction is “Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, ….” (Ecclesiastes. 12:1). More often than not, opportunity once lost are never regained. None remains young forever, there is the EVIL DAY of old age, death and lack of interest when one will not be able to do those things one could have done at a younger age. So while it is yet DAY, do with all your might what your hands, spirit and soul finds to do (Ecclesiastes 9:10; Colossians. 3:23). Take advantage of your spinsterhood and engage in profitable ventures for the Lord and yourself and it shall be well with your soul, spirit and body in Jesus Name. Amen.
