Text:                                                                    Psalm 91:1-16

 

Our text speaks of the safety of the godly man, and his favour with God.  However, the blessings promised here are not for all believers, but for those who live in close fellowship with God (ie those who dwell in the secret place of the Most High).

The secret place of a nation or a king, is where precious and important things are kept or hid. It refers also to where secret matters about the security and welfare of the nation and/or the king are discussed. Secret matters of a nation or the king are very important that they cannot be joked with, and at such, unfriendly people are not allowed into the place. So, the secret place of the Lord is where His secrets are discussed, and are with them that fear Him (Ps. 25:14).

 

The secret of the Lord is that in God, which the world neither knows nor sees, nor cares to enjoy. It is His mind revealed to those that love Him, His plan, and ways, just as was made known to Moses, and other O.T and N.T saints like Noah, Abraham, Peter, Paul, to mention but a few (Ps. 103:7; Gen. 6:13-14, 17-19,22; 18:17-21; Mt. 11:25-27; 16:16-17; Col. 1:25-27). It is the things hidden from angels, but made known to the least of His friends through His Spirit (1Pt. 1:9-12; 1Cor. 2:9-13).

 

Whatever secret God has for any generation, He makes known to them that fear Him in that generation.  The WATCHMAN vision is the Lord’s secret revealed to us to pursue in these last days. Pursuing this God-given project, is dwelling in His secret place.
