Though there are numerous entities that are called ‘gods’ (these are indeed demons, fallen angels or evil spirits), as well as numerous humans referred to as ‘lords’, there is only one God, the Father of flesh and all spirits (Num. 16:22; 27:16; Isa. 66:23; Jer. 32:27; Jn. 17:2; Heb. 12:9), and the Creator of all things (Gen. 1:1,21,27; 5:2; Ps. 89:12; 104:30; 148:5; Isa. 40:26; 41:20; 42:5; Ezek. 28:13).
- Beside Him, there is no other (Isa. ; 4:35,39; 1Kgs. 8:60; Isa. 45:5,6,14,18,22; 46:9; Mk. 12:32; 1Sam. 2:2).
- Similarly, there is only one Lord, the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God (Matt. 3:17; 17:15; 8:29; Lk. 8:25; Mk. 1:1; 3:11; Lk. 1:35),
- The Word of God personified (Jn. 1:1 & 14; 1Jn. 1:1; Rev. 19:13;
- By whom all things were made (Col. 1:16; Jn. 1:3; Heb. 1:1-2; 1Cor. 8:6; Eph. 3:9).
Our homage, obedience, faith, hope, etc therefore must be toward God through Jesus Christ.
