THE IDOL IS NOTHING

This is the view of those who had/have profound knowledge of the Supremacy of God the Father and Jesus Christ the Lord over all things/beings. This is the view that led/leads to the faith-filled and undefiled conscience that could make one eat those things without having a pricked/defiled conscience.

Indeed, the idol, that is, an object made of either wood, or clay, or silver, brass or gold, etc., and reverenced/taken as representing some supposed deity is ALTOGETHER NOTHING, other than the material with which or the form into which it was formed (eg. 32:1-4; 1Sam. 5:1-3; Isa. 44:9-10,12-17; 45:20 Acts. 19:24-26).

Though the above be true, yet there are demon-gods behind the idols that men raise and reverence, hence sometimes they experience some strange happenings, as they relate with these demon-gods.

This is what must have informed the action of backslidden king Ahaziah (2Kgs. 1:2); that of the prophets of Baal (1Kgs. 18:25-26); that of the Philistines (1Sam. 5:1-4); and even that of backslidden Israelites (Ex. 32:1-5).

The above truths make it mandatory for any true Christian not to have anything to do with idols or images of supposed personalities in heaven, even as the Lord has commanded (Ex. 20:4; Lev. 26:1; 1Jn. 5:21).
