WHAT IS THE GOSPEL?

BIBLE READING: Rom. 1:16-17

The gospel simply means good news.

Every person born into this world has been condemned as a result of sin (Rom. 3:23) yet because of God’s love for man He gave His Son to die in order to release man from this condemnation, in other words to justify him (Jn. 3:16; Rom. 5:6-11).  This justification is free (that is, by grace). This is the good news.

Many Old Testament prophets had the gospel as the focus of their message which they preached to the Old Testament believers and the faithful believers hoped to see it (Jn. 1:45; Rom. 1:1-3; Acts 3:20-21; 1 Pet. 1:10).
