THEY HAVE DEFIED THEE, O LORD!

FIRST FRUIT FASTING EXERCISE    June 1-7, 2020 – (Day 6)

Theme: QUIT YOURSELVES AS MEN AND FIGHT

Texts: 1Sam.4:6-9, Eph.6:12

Sub-Text: 2Chro.32:1-21

It has been a great experience waiting upon the Lord for these days, and surely your reward abounds as you have sown to the spirit (Gal.6:7).

Knowledge of the scriptures equips one to make a fairly accurate judgment of the prognosis (a prediction about how something will develop) of events (Rom.15:4), because the unchanging God always follows His principles (Mal.3:6). We have stated the need to be brave and do what is required of us in the event of threat (1Sam.4:9, Matt.11:12). So did King Hezekiah when faced with the might of the world power of his day – the Emperor of the Assyrian Empire: Sennacherib had boasted of his superlative superiority over King Hezekiah (Isa.36:4-10), intimidated the citizens (Isa.36:11-17), and defied the God of Israel/Hezekiah (Isa.36:18-20).

Hezekiah mourned the development and reported the matter to the Lord Who had been blasphemed (Isa.37:1-7). And the Lord reacted by terminating the invasion and the invader.
