THEY THAT FIGHT AGAINST THE LORD SHALL NOT PROSPER

FIRST FRUIT FASTING EXERCISE    June 1-7, 2020 –  (Day 7)

Theme: QUIT YOURSELVES AS MEN AND FIGHT

Texts: 1Sam.4:6-9, Eph.6:12

Sub-Text:         2Chr.13:1-20

It has been a great time of fellowship with the Lord in this corporate fasting exercise. I trust that many people will go a little further in the exercise for some extra touch. It has been established that we are spiritually advantaged overall challenges that come our way and so we must not fear (Eph.2:6). This is because we have a privileged unrestricted access to the throne, and authority to execute judgment (Heb.4:16; Lk.10:19).

Our title was drawn from the assertion of a relatively young but God-fearing king, when confronted by a more experienced king. Both kings were of the same race (sons of Jacob) but the older and more experienced had double of the numerical strength of the younger, Abijah.

However, Abijah had God’s word (truth), promise, good stance, and sound spiritual status in his favour. He also had an ARGUMENT – ‘God is our Captain’ and an ADMONITION – “Don’t fight against God” (v.12). By the apparently disadvantaged prayer and praise with a shout at the war front, the larger army capitulated (v.14-16, Jos.6:16-17).
