Why does the Church discipline someone where, you've received gifts from a brother (without the knowledge that he's your Will of God) but later on you find out that he is your Will of God?

Why does the Church discipline someone where, you've received gifts from a brother (without the knowledge that he's your Will of God) but later on you find out that he is your Will of God?

The marriage committee wants to avoid having a Brother woo a Sister towards marriage by giving gifts to her. It is in the best interest of both of them.
